27 weeks + 3 days

Im a few days behind on my 27 week post... better late then never :)

Dear Baby Boy,

This week lots has been happening. Not only outside, but you have been moving lots in mommys belly especially during the night when your daddy gets home from work. Your getting stronger every day and now weigh over 2lbs! Your mommy and daddy have been getting ready for your arrival. Your room is coming along quite nicely. We went with your Grandma Dixie and picked out a comfy chair for us to rock you back and forth to every night. Sitting in the chair, I can picture holding you, feeding you, and reading stories to you before bed. Daddy loves the chair and since it reclines, he said he will rock you anytime I want him too... Lets hope he keeps that promise :)

Sunday, the 20th we celebrated Thanksgiving at Grandma & Grandpas... it was the night you had yummy prime rib & potatoes.. remember? I enjoyed my week off from work and spent Thanksgiving at Brett & Christine's as Daddy had to work. I am looking forward to this upcoming week; decorating the tree, register for all the goodies you will use when you arrive, and a date night with Daddy to see the new Twilight movie! Here are a few sneak peaks into your future room & Thanksgiving. We love you baby boy & cannot wait to meet you in 12 weeks!

love, Mommy & Daddy

And some Thanksgiving belly pictures!

Thankful!

I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am. With less than a week to thanksgiving I want to start a list of things I am most thankful for

My hubby: He is an amazing partner and friend. Any moment, at any time I need him he is there. He makes me laugh and treats me like a princess. He supports my goals, encourages my dreams and hugs me when I freak out thinking life to overwhelming. In these last months he has shown me that he is going to be an amazing father to our son. He works hard durning hours that most of us are sleeping to take care of me, our baby, our home and our pup. He is self-less and kind and everyone who knows Derek can agree- he is such a fun person to be around.

My parents: Knowing that I will soon be a mommy in just 3 short months makes me see my parents role in a different light. I am so impressed with how easy they have made parenting look. My parents are ALWAYS there for me. They have spent countless hours helping Derek & I work on our house. My mama still spoils me with little gifts and my daddy is our go to question man when Derek & I have questions about grow up things... loans, mortgage, taxes, plumbing, retirement...my dad has answers! I am so impressed with their love and selflessness they have for Derek & I (& Radar & baby too).

God: I am so grateful for my faith in God. He has given me to much to be grateful for. His presence alone gets me through my rough day and I know that with God, all things are possible. Whenever I question why something happened, I turn to God and I always know that everything happens for a reason. God has a plan for each of us and I pray to God every night, thanking him and asking him for protection and support.

I think I'll stop there for today. I'll be back throughout the week to add more to my list!

25 Weeks!

Things are finally feeling back to normal this week. I am feeling better, still sore and achy at the end of the day, but all and all I am okay & so is baby.

Monday the 7th we had a regular prenatal appointment. Baby's heartbeat was strong around 140bpm! I had to chug this delicious glucose drink...
It didnt taste as bad as I was expecting... although I'm glad I dont have to drink it again... til the next baby :) My doctor called the next day and informed me I do not have gestational diabetes but I am slightly anemic :( I have now started taking an extra iron supplement which is this ...
I've also invested in this a few weeks ago and am making sure to use it daily! So far I am stretch mark free...
Here is my 24 1/2 week belly picture. I look like Im hunched over or something but Im not. Plus it kinda looks like Im holding a ballon under my shirt hehe... no ballon.. just a baby! We were heading to my parents for dinner & Derek quickly took one picture before we left.
Sunday Night went to my parents for dinner. It was the first time I'd seen Brett & Christine since the wedding. It was great to recap the fun weekend & hear all about their Caymen Island honeymoon. Here is Christine & Me!
And for fun... I wanted to fill out this survey I've seen on a few other blogs.

How far along are you? 25 weeks!
How big is your baby girl? 1.8- 2 lbs (according to my What to Expect app)
How long is your baby girl? 9 inches
How much weight have you gained? 14 LBS Maybe its just me but I dont think I look like I've gained 14 lbs but the doctor don't lie. And if you know me in person... agree with me please :)
Do you have any stretch marks? Negative
Are you wearing maternity clothes? Mostly! Some shirts still are long enough but maternity clothes are 100% more comfortable. Plus with the rainy weather now here maternity leggings with boots is my go to outfit!
How are you sleeping through the night? I wake up once or twice to use the restroom. Also Derek wakes me up when he gets home from work. And his 4:45am alarm clock (that he sleeps through) is quite annoying on the mornings he goes hunting. But I love him anyways :)
What was the best moment this week? MOVEMENT! In the last week, his movement is much powerful. Also Derek has been able to feel him more too! Which gives him a "holy cow" look on his face every time hehe
Food cravings: Well I've made chocolate chip cookies 3 times
Movements? Yes...
Belly button? Still an innie but kinda flat looking.. it's gonna pop out in a few weeks I feel like.
What I miss? Nothing! I really LOVE being pregnant. Its too amazing to miss anything!
Labor signs? Nope & lets keep it that way for 15 weeks!
What I am looking forward to? Enjoying the next 3 months preparing for our baby & hopefully buying a new (used) car this week! We've had a rental since the accident & we must return it on Wednesday.
Milestone? A healthy heartbeat!

Rough Week!

I expected ups and downs while pregnant. I was ready for morning sickness, tiredness, uncomfortable sleep, mood swings... However I never imagined being in a car accident when 23 weeks pregnant!!

Thursday night (10-27) I got out of class around 6:45. I went with some friends to the library to watch a movie for my online ethics class. The movie ended around 8:15 and I got on the road. 20 minutes into the drive, I was almost to Davis. Traffic began slowing due to what looked like a construction zone ahead. I began breaking to slow down when all of a sudden a car hit my right rear side and sent me spinning and crashing into the barrier. I could see cars and cars passing by me, fearing they would hit me as I was now stalled on the FREEWAY! I instantly began crying hysterical and just prayed for my baby! Another car stopped and I could hear the ladies yelling to me to pull my car off to the side. Finally I got my car to start and I pulled off to the shoulder. The ladies were kind enough to call 911 and stay there until the ambulance arrived. I also used their phone to call Derek, who luckily was only 5 minutes away. Soon I was being assisted out of my car with a neck brace onto a stretcher. Derek was there within minutes which put some anxiety at ease. I was transported to UC Davis Med Center. When we got there, I was swarmed by doctors.… A good 15 of them! Within 20 minutes they striped my clothes & jewelry, put in an IV, took blood, performed TWO ultrasounds, hooked a monitor to make sure I wasn't contracting, and took an X-ray of my upper back and neck. Not only was the pain overwhelming, I laid there worried to death about the unknown while a neck brace way too big dug into my skin. Long story... I am okay & so is baby!

After the ER, we were admitted to Labor and Delivery for the rest of the night and the whole next day. I never imagined staying in Labor and Delivery at 23 weeks. I am so grateful that the baby is doing great, safe inside of me & the worst is just some aches and pains. Derek was there instantly when I needed him which makes me love him even more and more. He spent hours holding my hand and made sure my parents were up to date on all that was happening. The next morning my parents arrived from Donner Lake and took care of me too.

The night I got home from the hospital I thanked God for being there. When life shows you how powerful it is; it puts everything into perspective. Who cares about the little things we stress about, why waste time with drama and fighting. That night could have ended very differently and it taught me to be grateful for all that I have.

Almost a week later, I am doing better. Emotionally I having a tough time dealing with thought of what could have happen and replaying the whole night in my head. I am grateful for the great care at UC Davis and for my husband, sister in law, in laws and parents! They were all there as soon as I needed them!

Car accidents are scary enough but when your pregnant and it happens it makes it so much worse. I am so lucky that we are both okay and I thank GOD every night for protecting us both. Looks like we'll be spending the next few weeks… & months.. Not only figuring out nursery stuff but buying a new car and dealing with insurances!
