Happy New Year everyone! As I type, there are only a few hours left in 2011! I am enjoying those last hours at home, with my puppy (& baby Connor in the belly). Derek is at work and felt no need to party until 3am with my friends this year... umm I wonder why :). 2011 was quite a year. We had some heart ache in the beginning of the year, lost a good family friend in May, found out our lives would forever be changed in June, and watched my brother & Christine say "I do" in October . Each year I am grateful for the ups and downs and each year I look forward to seeing what the next year has in store. I know 2012 will be great! We will welcome a baby boy into the world and I'll get to watch my husband be a daddy... What could be better than that!

Although 2011 involved sadness, like any other year, as I sit here, I am 100% content with where my life is right now and I thank God everyday for that! Happy New Year everyone! May 2012 be filled with health, happiness & enjoyment!!

30 WEEKS!

Things are getting serious around our house! Within a week, we have a crib, a bassinet and a comfy rocking chair... all for baby! The nursery is coming along & I am LOVING how it is turning out. Just need to make the curtains, crib skirt, toss pillows, and add some final touches & it will be complete. It's so surreal walking by the room & seeing the crib! Can't wait for our baby boy to make it his cozy bed. Daddy worked hard putting the crib together while I watched and supervised :) It sure was a fun week getting ready for baby! It seems as if we're busy every week the next month and half so I know the next 2 months will fly by then BABY!

We had an appointment today & got to hear a healthy heartbeat. Tomorrow we go for an ultrasound which I am excited to see our growing baby boy. I decided to do the pregnancy quiz again this week.

  • How far along are you? 30w 1d

  • Total weight gain: Lets skip this question :)

  • How big is baby? Weighing between 3 to 4 pounds & 18 inches long!

  • Maternity clothes: YES... everything is maternity!

  • Stretch marks?: Nope... runs to rub lotion on my belly

  • Sleep? Sleep is okay... I wake up at least once to pee then sometimes have a hard time falling back asleep. The pelvis/ hip discomfort is bad at night.

  • Best moment this week? So many things! Crib, bassinet, chair, hearing a healthy heart beat!

  • Movement? Very much! He is a wiggle worm!

  • Food cravings? Im trying so hard to eat healthy but with the holidays near.. I can't get away from candy canes, cake pops, fresh baked cookies, brownies & kisses :/
  • Labor signs? Nope!

  • Belly button in or out? Flat but only a matter of days until it starts creeping out
  • What I miss: Nothing! I am loving pregnancy too much to miss anything!

  • What I'm looking forward to: Ultrasound tomorrow!

  • Milestone: Making it to 30 weeks! And having a baby crib in our house... such a great feeling!

    3rd Trimester!

    29 weeks (almost)

A week and a half ago I entered into the last 12 weeks of my pregnancy. Thinking of how fast the last 29 weeks have gone by, I know the next 10 1/2 weeks will be here before ya know it... especially with the holidays and showers in the near future. So far I am not nervous of birth or having a newborn. Part of me is anxious for our little man to be here while the other part of me is still patient and enjoying every kick and roll in my belly. I think Im gonna miss that part. So far I have begin to feel the effects of the third trimester.

    Sleep:
My sleep is hit and miss. I fall asleep well (since Im so tired lately) and usually wake up around 2 or 3 to use the restroom. After that, some nights it takes me hours to fall back asleep. A few nights I've had heartburn, some nights just cant get comfortable all while having really achy pain in my lower pelvis (which started around 25 weeks). Some nights fall right back to sleep after the bathroom and can sleep til 10am... it just depends!

    Movement:
I LOVE feeling little man move. Right when I wake up in the morning he quickly reminds me he is there. Also late a night as I lay in bed he is most active. His movement has gotten more powerful and sometimes he makes my belly all lopsided as he moves from side to side.

    My body:
My body is experiencing changes ... to say the least. A growing belly, achy pelvis and waddle when I walk have all kicked in. I've also begin to feel the tiredness that I felt durning the 1st trimester which may have to do with not sleeping all to well at night.

Sunday night we celebrated my brother in law & father in law's birthday. We went to the Dead Fish in Crockett then back to Grandma's house. We had fun snapping pictures by the Christmas tree!

    27 weeks + 3 days

Im a few days behind on my 27 week post... better late then never :)

    Dear Baby Boy,

This week lots has been happening. Not only outside, but you have been moving lots in mommys belly especially during the night when your daddy gets home from work. Your getting stronger every day and now weigh over 2lbs! Your mommy and daddy have been getting ready for your arrival. Your room is coming along quite nicely. We went with your Grandma Dixie and picked out a comfy chair for us to rock you back and forth to every night. Sitting in the chair, I can picture holding you, feeding you, and reading stories to you before bed. Daddy loves the chair and since it reclines, he said he will rock you anytime I want him too... Lets hope he keeps that promise :)

Sunday, the 20th we celebrated Thanksgiving at Grandma & Grandpas... it was the night you had yummy prime rib & potatoes.. remember? I enjoyed my week off from work and spent Thanksgiving at Brett & Christine's as Daddy had to work. I am looking forward to this upcoming week; decorating the tree, register for all the goodies you will use when you arrive, and a date night with Daddy to see the new Twilight movie! Here are a few sneak peaks into your future room & Thanksgiving. We love you baby boy & cannot wait to meet you in 12 weeks!

    love, Mommy & Daddy

    And some Thanksgiving belly pictures!

    Thankful!

I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am. With less than a week to thanksgiving I want to start a list of things I am most thankful for

My hubby: He is an amazing partner and friend. Any moment, at any time I need him he is there. He makes me laugh and treats me like a princess. He supports my goals, encourages my dreams and hugs me when I freak out thinking life to overwhelming. In these last months he has shown me that he is going to be an amazing father to our son. He works hard durning hours that most of us are sleeping to take care of me, our baby, our home and our pup. He is self-less and kind and everyone who knows Derek can agree- he is such a fun person to be around.

My parents: Knowing that I will soon be a mommy in just 3 short months makes me see my parents role in a different light. I am so impressed with how easy they have made parenting look. My parents are ALWAYS there for me. They have spent countless hours helping Derek & I work on our house. My mama still spoils me with little gifts and my daddy is our go to question man when Derek & I have questions about grow up things... loans, mortgage, taxes, plumbing, retirement...my dad has answers! I am so impressed with their love and selflessness they have for Derek & I (& Radar & baby too).

God: I am so grateful for my faith in God. He has given me to much to be grateful for. His presence alone gets me through my rough day and I know that with God, all things are possible. Whenever I question why something happened, I turn to God and I always know that everything happens for a reason. God has a plan for each of us and I pray to God every night, thanking him and asking him for protection and support.

I think I'll stop there for today. I'll be back throughout the week to add more to my list!

    25 Weeks!

Things are finally feeling back to normal this week. I am feeling better, still sore and achy at the end of the day, but all and all I am okay & so is baby.

Monday the 7th we had a regular prenatal appointment. Baby's heartbeat was strong around 140bpm! I had to chug this delicious glucose drink...
It didnt taste as bad as I was expecting... although I'm glad I dont have to drink it again... til the next baby :) My doctor called the next day and informed me I do not have gestational diabetes but I am slightly anemic :( I have now started taking an extra iron supplement which is this ...
I've also invested in this a few weeks ago and am making sure to use it daily! So far I am stretch mark free...
Here is my 24 1/2 week belly picture. I look like Im hunched over or something but Im not. Plus it kinda looks like Im holding a ballon under my shirt hehe... no ballon.. just a baby! We were heading to my parents for dinner & Derek quickly took one picture before we left.
Sunday Night went to my parents for dinner. It was the first time I'd seen Brett & Christine since the wedding. It was great to recap the fun weekend & hear all about their Caymen Island honeymoon. Here is Christine & Me!
And for fun... I wanted to fill out this survey I've seen on a few other blogs.

How far along are you? 25 weeks!
How big is your baby girl? 1.8- 2 lbs (according to my What to Expect app)
How long is your baby girl? 9 inches
How much weight have you gained? 14 LBS Maybe its just me but I dont think I look like I've gained 14 lbs but the doctor don't lie. And if you know me in person... agree with me please :)
Do you have any stretch marks? Negative
Are you wearing maternity clothes? Mostly! Some shirts still are long enough but maternity clothes are 100% more comfortable. Plus with the rainy weather now here maternity leggings with boots is my go to outfit!
How are you sleeping through the night? I wake up once or twice to use the restroom. Also Derek wakes me up when he gets home from work. And his 4:45am alarm clock (that he sleeps through) is quite annoying on the mornings he goes hunting. But I love him anyways :)
What was the best moment this week? MOVEMENT! In the last week, his movement is much powerful. Also Derek has been able to feel him more too! Which gives him a "holy cow" look on his face every time hehe
Food cravings: Well I've made chocolate chip cookies 3 times
    Movements? Yes...
Belly button? Still an innie but kinda flat looking.. it's gonna pop out in a few weeks I feel like.
What I miss? Nothing! I really LOVE being pregnant. Its too amazing to miss anything!
Labor signs? Nope & lets keep it that way for 15 weeks!
What I am looking forward to? Enjoying the next 3 months preparing for our baby & hopefully buying a new (used) car this week! We've had a rental since the accident & we must return it on Wednesday.
    Milestone? A healthy heartbeat!

    Rough Week!

I expected ups and downs while pregnant. I was ready for morning sickness, tiredness, uncomfortable sleep, mood swings... However I never imagined being in a car accident when 23 weeks pregnant!!

Thursday night (10-27) I got out of class around 6:45. I went with some friends to the library to watch a movie for my online ethics class. The movie ended around 8:15 and I got on the road. 20 minutes into the drive, I was almost to Davis. Traffic began slowing due to what looked like a construction zone ahead. I began breaking to slow down when all of a sudden a car hit my right rear side and sent me spinning and crashing into the barrier. I could see cars and cars passing by me, fearing they would hit me as I was now stalled on the FREEWAY! I instantly began crying hysterical and just prayed for my baby! Another car stopped and I could hear the ladies yelling to me to pull my car off to the side. Finally I got my car to start and I pulled off to the shoulder. The ladies were kind enough to call 911 and stay there until the ambulance arrived. I also used their phone to call Derek, who luckily was only 5 minutes away. Soon I was being assisted out of my car with a neck brace onto a stretcher. Derek was there within minutes which put some anxiety at ease. I was transported to UC Davis Med Center. When we got there, I was swarmed by doctors.… A good 15 of them! Within 20 minutes they striped my clothes & jewelry, put in an IV, took blood, performed TWO ultrasounds, hooked a monitor to make sure I wasn't contracting, and took an X-ray of my upper back and neck. Not only was the pain overwhelming, I laid there worried to death about the unknown while a neck brace way too big dug into my skin. Long story... I am okay & so is baby!

After the ER, we were admitted to Labor and Delivery for the rest of the night and the whole next day. I never imagined staying in Labor and Delivery at 23 weeks. I am so grateful that the baby is doing great, safe inside of me & the worst is just some aches and pains. Derek was there instantly when I needed him which makes me love him even more and more. He spent hours holding my hand and made sure my parents were up to date on all that was happening. The next morning my parents arrived from Donner Lake and took care of me too.

The night I got home from the hospital I thanked God for being there. When life shows you how powerful it is; it puts everything into perspective. Who cares about the little things we stress about, why waste time with drama and fighting. That night could have ended very differently and it taught me to be grateful for all that I have.

Almost a week later, I am doing better. Emotionally I having a tough time dealing with thought of what could have happen and replaying the whole night in my head. I am grateful for the great care at UC Davis and for my husband, sister in law, in laws and parents! They were all there as soon as I needed them!

Car accidents are scary enough but when your pregnant and it happens it makes it so much worse. I am so lucky that we are both okay and I thank GOD every night for protecting us both. Looks like we'll be spending the next few weeks… & months.. Not only figuring out nursery stuff but buying a new car and dealing with insurances!

    Its a BOY!

He is quite a little mover inside there so it was fun to see him move his head back and forth, back and forth. No wonder I can feel him moving inside of me! Our ultrasound tech wasn't the happiest lady but we made the best of her dual attitude! She was very confident that we have a little boy though! It's such an amazing experience to see your baby boy growing inside of your body! It amazes me everyday!

20 more weeks & this little GUY will be here!!

Mommy & Daddy love you already baby boy <3

    Something I'm loving

    FEELING THE BABY!!

I had my first experience feeling the baby Sept 10 in the morning as I laid in bed. It was several little punches that were more forceful than anything I thought I had felt. In the past week however those punches and twitches are happening more often! I love how it feels.

In other news, we get to see our cutie on Tuesday!! & see if that cutie is indeed a BOY!

I'm excited to see our baby & feel him/her more & more

    :)

Its personal and I dont want all my business for everyone to see. Anyways for my own memory.. here are some belly pictures!

    The Do's & Don'ts

In my 17 weeks of being pregnant I have learned lots! I thought it would be humorous to complie a list of what I personally think are the Do's & Don'ts of pregnancy!

    Do:
    - EAT! Even if its crackers. I quickly learned that as soon as I got hungry, I felt sick. Luckily I never got morning sickness per sa but I contribute that to eating something right when I got up, even if I didn't feel like it.

    - Listen to your body! Especially if it is saying "I want to do nothing else but sleep"-- Your husband will understand if the dishes aren't done & his socks for work aren't clean... Right D? :)

    - Eat lots of fruit & veggies. I for sure slack on the veggies part but I am LOVING fruit. I stopped at a local produce stand & stocked up on bananas, peaches, apples & pears... Yum!

    - Do Exercise! From week 6-10 I wanted to do nothing else but sleep but I love walking with my husband & pup!

    - Enjoy it! The weeks are starting to fly by. The first tri kinda seemed longed but the last 5 weeks have flown by! I love being pregnant. I love the thought of what is happening in my body and I LOVE absolutely love when my husband rubs my belly and says hi to our little one.

    Don't
    - Go to safeway when your hungry. You will, & you will, spend way to much money on things that look good and then once you get home, be grossed out by them.

    - Think your superwomen. As of June, I got a new job in which Im really enjoying. I am tutoring a boy with autism. At this time I was also working as a server at the tea room. Physically, I had to listen to my body and give that job up. However, I now took on the challenge of working 5 days a week, while going to grad school (12 units) & being a wifey all while growing a child in my belly! I must say that at first I thought "oh I can do it all". Well, I have found a good routine that works for me & my hubby but I also know when to take a seat on the couch and stop trying to be superwomen. Oh well if dinner is 30 minutes later or if I didn't read the chapter due for class. All I care about is growing a healthy baby... because honestly all those other little things are not important compared to that!

    - Go to Taco Bell when you are hungry. This is a KEY point. Spending $13.00 at Taco bell for one person is not a good plan, espeically when there is no one else home to help you eat it. Fortunatly, I didn't eat it all (at one seeting)... but boy oh boy did I order too much food!
I will sollow my pride and show the proof.

Im sure I'll be adding more to this in the next 23 weeks!

Boy, do I have lots to share.

Once again, its been quite a while since I blogged last. School has started again and I am working lots. I've enjoyed my summer but sure wish it was longer. Unforuntaely, Derek & I schedules are somewhat opposite so we didn't get to take a lot of vacations. However, we enjoyed lots of bbq's and days swimming in the pool. Our summer started with Joe & Amy's wedding, Brett & Christines engagment party & a weekend trip to Lake Almanor. June we celebrated our 1 year anniversey with a trip to Donner Lake, lots of birthdays & fathers day.

Speaking of fathers day... I woke up that Sunday, June 19, not feeling to well. I was expecting my period on the 18th, but still nothing. I was kinda nauseous and really tired. I enjoyed the day with my dad & went to bed early. Monday morning I woke up at 6:30 am for work. A part of me had this gut feeling to take a pregnancy test. Still no period, not feeling to good, and somewhere in my body just knew (hoped) it was going to be positive.

Less than a minute later, PREGNANT appeared! 10 minutes later & 3 tests later, this was my view.

Guess what everyone! We are having a baby!! Little Russell is due February 22 & I am almost 17 weeks pregnant! We have got to see him/her twice!

Here is baby at 7 1/2 weeks:

It was such an amazing experience to not only see our baby on the screen but hear the heartbeat. I prayed & prayed & prayed for a healthy baby & God showed me his miracle that day!

We went again at 13 weeks for a genetic ultrasound. Not only do we have a healthy baby but we have a little cutie! Baby R was moving a lot & it was so fun to see on the screen. I loved looking at Dereks face during the ultrasound. He didn't take his eyes off the screen as he stared in complete amazement. For me, not a moment goes by where I don't think of the little baby in my tummy but I think for Derek, seeing it on the screen makes it so much more real to him.

Anyways... The ultrasound tech showed us all his/her little features. She asked if we wanted her to take a guess at the sex. We said "yes". Although everything is still really small... she paused for a few seconds... then a few seconds more & said "I'm going to say about 68%... I'm leaning towards... Boy." Either way we are just excited that our baby is healthy & growing. Come October 4, at 20 weeks we will have a better idea of if baby R is going to be a football player or a cheerleader!
To say I am excited is an understatement. This baby has already brought so much joy and happiness to our lives, in just almost 17 weeks! I pray to God every day, thanking him and asking him to continue to help our baby grow! Febuary cannot come soon enough! Although, Im sure it'll be here before we know it :)

    Guess who turned one?

& who got a little too excited & went a little overboard on pictures?

That would be Radar turning 1 & her mama & auntie Katelyn taking advantage of it. We were in Lake Almanor at the end of May and while the men were off fishing, we stopped by the dollar store, spent way to much money on 1st birthday decorations & took pictures by a cool barn outside of town!

These pictures are a little overboard but it was so much fun & she is such a photogenic doggie!!

    Happy Anniversary Hubby!

(Not today, on June 5th... Im just late)

    May 28, 2011

One year ago, I work up in a beautiful white home filled with my whole family and best friends. I got my hair done, put my makeup on & slipped into a beautiful white dress. With my dad by my side, I walked down the isle to my future. In the last year, Derek has been more amazing each and every day. He surprises me all the time with how great he is. I am lucky to have found him (& i'd like to think he's lucky to find me too).

This 1st year of our marriage has flown by. Together we have faced challenges and conquered them, ... together. Each day we create new memories and our love grows stronger. I love being married & feel so grateful to get to spend the rest of my life with my very best friend by my side!

How I love remember that amazing day!

    Horoscope

I've never been a huge horoscope follower but lately, horoscopes have really rang true to my life. I looked at my 2011 horoscope & it really is true so far.

"You're an upbeat person, and no matter what happens, you do your best to make the most of it - especially when it comes to acquiring knowledge. You'll learn more in the first few months than you did in all of 2010. Don't push yourself too hard, however. There's no hurry. Don't forget to take time out to relax and enjoy life."

My favorite part is " You'll learn more in the first few months than you did in all of 2010". I sure did learn a lot in 2010. I learned about friendship, marriage & owning a home. However so far in 2011, I've learned so much about myself. I've finally began taking the time to really understand myself and what I want. I've been dealing with some personal things that have lead to a lot of self-exploration. I also really like the part "Theres no hurry. Don't forget to take time out to relax and enjoy life". Anyone who knows me knows that I am a goal-directed person. I create a goal and rush to complete it, sometimes not really enjoying the ride along the way. In 2011, I've realized there is no hurry. That I must make time to smell the roses along the run. I've realized that everything always falls into place.... eventually. I am learning to be patient, especially in the areas I cannot control.

As grad school is another area that I must not push myself too hard. I have met so many great friends & am really enjoying my classes however I do get anxious that Im still in school. I love school & learning, but Im also excited for a career in counseling. I'm content with where my life is at the moment but Im very motivated to get through school & & get that Masters!!

    To my Valentine...

Happy Valentine's Day to my love, my best friend and my rock! It's kinda crazy that each day we love each other more and more...

Hope everyone is enjoying heart day!

    Thursday, January 27, 2011

Somedays I need to remind myself just how lucky I am. I never did a recap of 2010 & I figured I needed too. I love reminiscing on all the memories a year can hold. I think all the way back to last January when Derek & I bought our home. As I sit here tying in our kitchen, Im thankful to have a home where Derek & I can grow as a family together. I love our home and I thank God everyday for it! As spring approached I was surrounded by all my family & friends, I got to enjoy all the fun of planning a wedding and all of the showers that come along with it! I was blessed to have 4 showers and an amazing bachelorette party. I really enjoyed the process of planning a wedding. I grew closer with my parents and I enjoyed all the great times we had together. I really did cherish them because soon I would be moving out tackling life as a married women. In spring, an email I had been waiting for also arrived with good news that I got accepted to graduate school for the fall. What a nice feeling when I read that news!!

As June drew closer, excitement in my body was even stronger. I was bless with an amazing wedding that was even more perfect than I could have ever imagined. Looking back, I cannot believe how awesome it really was. We enjoyed the property for 3 days and were able to have all our friends & family stay there the days leading up to the wedding. Derek & I went off to Tahoe for a few days to begin our lives as newlyweds. The summer was fun. Having a pool in a place where the average summer day is 90 degrees means pool parties and BBQ most days and nights. It was fun to be able to have our family and friends over & entertain in our home. Another 2010 day I'll never forget is July 19 -- the day Radar entered our family! Oh how I love her so much.

As the summer ended, school began. Im a nerd in the way that I love the 1st day of school... all decked out with new notebooks and binders. I truly felt like a freshmen in college showing up on campus with a map in hand trying to determine where my class was. (I no longer need a map.. Thank God). I really enjoyed my first semester of Graduate school... Ive made some great friends & I finally feel as if I'm learning information I will really use in the future.

The holidays rolled around and I love the new traditions that were started this year. Luckily Derek had Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day off. I am so grateful to have gotten to spend the holidays with my family. December also marked the beginning of a new journey for Derek. He began his new job working for the City of Davis -- & I am so proud!

Remember all the amazing things that 2010 brought is such a great way to allow myself to remember how lucky I am. I have days where things just don't seem to be going my way however by doing this, I can remind myself of how blessed I really am. I thank God everyday for all that he has given me.. and for all thats to come :)

A few pictures from the end of 2010!

Its kinda crazy that SOO much can happen in just ONE year. Im kinda excited to see if 2011 can top 2010... It might be hard to beat... but why not try? :)
